David SlaymakerDavid Slaymaker has been a student of Buddhism since 1992 and a disciple of Master Sheng Yen since 1996. He has attended many intensive Chan retreats with Master Sheng Yen, as well as with other teachers. David was certified as a Dharma Lecturer by the Chan Meditation Center in 2003, and has since worked with other Dharma Lecturers to teach introductory Dharma Classes at the Chan Meditation Center. In addition to his Buddhist studies, David is currently a professor in the Department of Biology at William Paterson University in New Jersey. Rikki AsherRikki Asher has been a disciple of Master Sheng Yen since 1978 and was certified as a Dharma Lecturer in 2004 and a meditation teacher in 2005. She is also a member of the California Yoga Teachers Association. She began her yoga studies in 1978 and has taught yoga classes at the Chan Meditation Center in Queens, NY, as well as at the retreat center in Pine Bush. When she is not teaching yoga, Rikki is Director of Art Education at City University of New York, at Queens College. She is a painter, a printmaker, and a Chan practitioner. Rebecca LiRebecca Li started studying Buddhism in 1995 and became a disciple of Master Sheng Yen in 1996. Since then, she attended many intensive Chan retreats with Master Sheng Yen and, in 2000, began serving as his translator in a number of retreats and international meetings. Rebecca was certified as a Dharma Lecturer by the Chan Meditation Center in 2003, and has since worked with other Dharma Lecturers to teach introductory Dharma Classes at the Chan Meditation Center. She is currently finishing her training as a meditation instructor. Professionally, Rebecca is a professor of sociology in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at The College of New Jersey. |
