About the Author

Chan Master Sheng-yen is widely recognized as one of the foremost contemporary Buddhist teachers. He received Dharma transmission in the two major schools of Chan, and has a doctorate in Buddhist literature from Rissho University in Tokyo. He has written more than 70 books in Chinese, and over a dozen books in English. Many of his books have been translated into Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Finnish, German, French, Spanish, Polish, Dutch, Russian, Vietnamese and Indonesian. His books have been praised for their clarity and directness, and for their ability to help readers understand and apply Chan to all aspects of their lives.
